On March 17, 2025, LIRA – Legado Integrado da Região Amazônica (Integrated Legacy of the Amazon Region), an initiative of IPÊ – Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas (Ecological Research Institute), will launch a call for proposals to strengthen community-based projects in protected areas in the Amazon. The public call, which is part of the LIRA Fund, will offer financial support to associations and cooperatives representing indigenous peoples, quilombola communities and extractivists, fostering actions aimed at environmental conservation and sustainable development.
With an investment of up to R$150,000.00 per project, the call for proposals seeks to promote initiatives that strengthen socio-biodiversity economies, inclusive governance and territorial management, always in line with the management plans of Conservation Units (UCs), Indigenous Lands (TIs) and Quilombola Territories. Proposals can cover areas such as sustainable production, territorial protection, community business structuring and knowledge management.
Registration for the Expression of Interest will be open from March 17 to April 13, 2025. Qualified organizations will participate in technical meetings promoted by LIRA, which will provide support for the preparation of detailed proposals. The deadline for submitting finished projects is May 25, 2025, and those selected will be announced on June 10, 2025.
In addition to the funding, the chosen initiatives will receive technical advice in the administrative, financial, legal and communication areas, as well as taking part in exchange events and training courses promoted by LIRA/IPÊ.
